If you are a Principal Mechanical Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of engineering delivery processes from within heavily regulated industry, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide leadership and management to a multi-disciplined engineering teams in the delivery of major projects or workstreams. You will be responsible for the successful execution of design engineering projects, technical tender preparations and tender design estimates to schedule and within budget. Additionally, you will be responsible for the management, development and recruitment of the engineering resource.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Providing management of the technical aspects of allocated projects, working either as part of a team or as an individual
- Managing the day-to-day tasking of any allocated engineers in analysing and understanding technical tender specifications, producing the technical aspects of tender returns, and creating accurate tender design estimates
- Carrying out the peer review of concept designs, 3D CAD scheme designs, detailed manufacturing drawings and design substantiation by hand calculations
- Providing substantiation (by hand calculation) of engineering designs
- Supporting the development of the engineering resource, development and implementation of internship and apprenticeship programmes
- Providing the production of concept designs, full 3D scheme design and 2D detail design for manufacture within SolidWorks all within the required timescales
About you…
- You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) in a relevant Engineering discipline
- You will demonstrate extensive knowledge of engineering delivery processes
- Whilst a Technical Lead on projects, you will have managed change control
- You will have experience in 2D/3D CAD for manufacturing (using SolidWorks or similar), draughting, technical document (control, configuration and issue), and technical reporting (internal and external)
- You will have experience in substantiation and validation of engineering design
- You will have experience of working within a heavily regulated industry (e.g. nuclear, food, rail, etc.)
