If you are a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with the ability to provide the leadership and management of multi-disciplined engineering teams in the delivery of major projects or workstreams, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the provision of elements associated with the successful delivery of machine design and build projects. Working as part of a project team, you will manage design output from concept to validation, producing engineering design and associated documentation in the production of engineering concepts and technical solutions compliant with company and international standards.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Progressing the technical delivery of engineering projects, as allocated, in alignment with the Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager
- Technically supporting the Commercial Department
- Producing engineering designs and associated engineering documents
- Managing the day-to-day technical aspects of allocated projects working with a team of engineers or as an individual
- Coordinating, alongside the Project Engineering Manager, in the day-to-day tasking of any allocated engineers
- Providing analyses and understanding technical tender specifications, producing the technical aspects of tender returns and creating accurate tender design estimates
- Peer reviewing concept designs, 3D CAD scheme designs, detailed manufacturing drawings and design substantiation by hand calculations.
- Producing substantiation (by hand calculation) of engineering designs
- Supporting the development of the engineering resource, development and implementation of internship and apprenticeship programmes
- Producing concept designs, full 3D scheme design and 2D detail design for manufacture within SolidWorks all within the required timescales
About you…
- You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) in Mechanical Engineering
- You will demonstrate knowledge of engineering delivery processes and as acting as technical lead on specific projects
- You will have experience in 2D/3D CAD for manufacturing (using SolidWorks or similar) and draughting
- You will have managed/participated in design reviews and provided substantiation and validation of engineering design
- Ideally, you will have experience of working within a heavily regulated industry (e.g. nuclear, food, rail, etc.)
