As Senior Stress Engineer, you will provide support to the multi-disciplined engineering team in the delivery major projects or workstreams. This role reports directly into the Engineering Lead and is responsible for ensuring and executing design analysis that is fit for purpose to support delivery to quality, schedule and budget.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Working alongside design engineers to ensure designs are fit for purpose and identify design solutions to solve problems identified by structural analysis.
- Analysing engineering designs, primarily by hand calculation, backed up with FEA, if required, across multiple projects.
- Authoring and/or checking of design analysis documentation.
- Acting as internal focal point for design analysis completed internally and by subcontractors.
- Positively influencing designs during conceptual/scheme stages to ensure structural integrity while considering improvements such as design for manufacture and cost reduction.
- Approaching analysis pragmatically and efficiently, working with engineers to ensure design for manufacture is realised.
- Providing scheduling and tasking information to Lead Engineers, Project Engineering Managers and Project Managers to support project delivery.
- Mentoring and assisting engineers undertaking design analysis tasks.
- Supporting the creation of standard operating procedures to introduce and develop consistent analysis methods and rules across the engineering department, providing internal training as required.
- Understanding of GDPR/data protection legislation procedures and requirements in a highly regulated environment.
About you…
- You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- You will hold, or be willing and able to undergo, Developed Vetting security clearance.
- You will have a demonstrable track record in stress analysis and hand calculation, using MathCAD.
- You should have a working knowledge of BS EN 13001, BS 2573 parts 1&2, BS 5950, and Eurocodes.
- You will be familiar with Analysis/Simulation Software (e.g. ANSYS/SolidWorks Simulation).
- You will demonstrate significant experience in analysis activities in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear).
