Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a research Project Lead to join the School of Education with the School of Business, Education, and Law at the University of Huddersfield. The School of Education aims to build upon its success in the Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) by developing opportunities for impact and knowledge exchange and transfer.

As part of this, we have developed a partnership with SERT Limited and are seeking to recruit a Project Lead to work within the scope of the funded IAA project, ‘Learning how to co-design with schools Sustainable Energy Development curricula’, on expansion of their current offer to schools for learning and training in the green energy sector.

The work will entail working closely with the project manager and senior school leaders to scope educational provision within Gosport and Fareham, and student and community need for new educational and training provision with the area.

You will help review the available literature, under stand funding, legislative and regulatory requirements, collect and analyse data, and generate proposals for growth, contributing to development proposals, funding proposals, and academic outputs. The work will also involve working and liaising with a range of school partners and stakeholders, so good communication skills will be essential and previous experience of student outcomes and opportunities, school improvement, and curriculum development will be an asset.  You will hold a Masters Qualification or a teaching qualification with school leadership experience. An interest in multi-academy trusts and the role of schools in local communities is essential, as is an enquiring and creative approach to challenges.

Researchers in the School of Education are currently working on a variety of topics including young people not in education, employment, or training, working in partnership with children and young people, radicalisation, and children’s voice. It provides a dynamic environment for a researcher interested in the positive impact that schools can have on our society.

We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties). As this role involves work in Hampshire, Gosport and Fareham it is essential that you are able to travel within this area. Some travel to Huddersfield will be required.

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff.  We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging.  We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all.

If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 15 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
