Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team working on diverse projects within highly regulated industries. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing high-quality engineering designs and technical solutions that meet both company and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver concept, scheme, and detailed engineering designs.
- Produce engineering documents, including drawings, calculations, and reports, ensuring completion within required timescales.
- Validate and substantiate design outputs, ensuring compliance with manufacturing and functionality requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and engineers, to support project delivery.
- Utilize 3D CAD tools (such as SolidWorks) and AutoCAD to create accurate engineering models and documentation.
- Support general engineering department administration to ensure smooth operations.
- Lead small to medium-sized engineering projects or contribute as part of a larger project team, working with minimal supervision but maintaining regular communication with senior team members.
About You:
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering (significant relevant experience in engineering activities will also be highly valued).
- Experience in mechanical design engineering within highly regulated industries (experience in the nuclear sector is advantageous but not essential).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong reporting and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accountability for deliverables.
