To operate professionally, it’s legally required that gas engineers are Gas Safe registered. The Gas Safe Register requires that an engineer possess an ACS Core Gas qualification before registration is confirmed.
A compulsory component of ACS is CCN1 (Core Domestic Gas Safety) or CMA1/3 (SMART Meter Installer Core) where re-assessment is needed every five years.
If an ACS qualification expires, it will need to be renewed in a five-day initial course. If certification has not yet expired, renewal can be completed in just three days with our refresher course.
With a day of guidebook training, a day of practical assessment and a final day for theory assessment, the CCN1 refresher covers:
- Combustion, relevant pressures and gas rates
- Legislation and standards
- Installation of pipework and fittings
- Gas controls
- Tightness testing and purging
- Ventilation
- Flue gas analysis

Before attending you will need an existing certificate demonstrating your competence for ACS, no longer than 6-months beyond its expiry date.
