New entrants hoping to tap into the gas industry will find the opportunity with a SERT gas diploma.
A Diploma is significantly shorter than a Gas Apprenticeship taking the industry required minimum of 6 months anywhere up to 51 weeks depending on the number of days in centre. SERT's bespoke nature can support an intensive 5-days a week programme, 2-days a week or 1-day a week upon customer request.
Competency will be assessed via practical assignments, multiple choice tests, short-answer papers and a portfolio of work compiled within a Gas Work Log.
All industry fundamentals will be covered extensively, including, but not limited to:
- Combustion and properties of gas
- Core installation and maintenance
- Gas safety principles
- Different buildings, services and structures
- Installation/maintenance of gas cookers and tumble dryers
- Installation/maintenance of gas water heaters and wet central heating appliances
- Installation/maintenance of leisure appliances
